Bootstrapping the iot app on hardware

Step-1 SSH into Raspberry pi

SSH or Secure Shell Access is way to run commands on your Raspberry pi using your PC or Laptop. We connect the Raspberry pi to PC or laptop using an ethernet cable or wifi and then ssh using the IP address of the Raspberry pi. If you don't know how to SSH into the Raspberry pi, here is a tutorial on how to do it.


Step-2 Clone the code repository from github

  1. [sudo] apt-get update
  2. git clone https://github.com/rishabhio/iotbeginner.git
  3. After executing above command, you have a directory by name iotbeginner, you can check it by using "ls" command.
  4. cd iotbeginner
  5. [sudo] python app.py
  6. The app will ask you to enter your thingspeak credentials. These are just the read key you created in the Module-2 and your channelid. Just add them and hit enter
  7. Your python app is now up and running
